Magic was one of the most special dogs.  She came mostly from the old Ben-De lines, which is hard to find now.  She and Thumper were the best of friends, and whenever Thumper had a "song in his heart" he had to find Magic.  Once he did, he would bark at her until she howled, and then Thumper would howl too.  Then the rest of the dogs in the house would howl, and Thumper and Magic would sit back to listen.
She was a family girl at heart, and rarely took to strangers, unless there was something in the offering.  One of her favorite spots was chasing squirrels, because at one of the houses she lived in, there were so many squirrels it drove her crazy.  Just saying "Squirrel, Magic, squirrel!!" would get you an alert expression and probably a bark too.
These pictures were taken when Magic was about 10 years old, not too long before we lost her to cancer.
